Goal
Medly is full of awesome songs showcasing its potential. Each song is made by our in-house musician. The songs can serve as starting points for users, or can be used to create a blank canvas with just the instruments used in the songs. Inspired by some other creative apps like Pages and Keynote, we wanted to overhaul the template system to make it more fun and inspiring to choose a template to start a song with.
Changes
In the old design, users would need to enter a pack and then select the blank template from the songs. This process grouped full songs and blank templates together. Since the templates could not be previewed like songs, we wanted to separate the two and find a was to put more emphasis on the instruments within the blank songs, since those are the distinguishable traits of each one.
