Eight Months of Exploring and Experimenting
eConverse Media is a Kitchener based company that specializes in the strategy, design, launch and management of association websites and communities. During my two terms at eConverse, I worked as a web designer with a range of roles.
My primary tasks included working closely with our art director to design visual layouts for homepages and interior pages of client’s websites. I also created icons, badges and other brand visuals for clients like Crayola, American Institution of Architects, and American Geophysics Union among others.
Wearing Multiple Hats
At eConverse, my jobs were always changing. Sometimes I was asked to create new icons and visual motifs for our clients with full creative freedom. Other times I would be required to create new brand deliverables and follow very tight brand guidelines. I enjoyed the variety of this co-op term. It taught me the importance of building a strong relationship with your clients.
Options Options Options
Every client is different, and you're never sure what they're going to love or hate. Some clients like the first thing you do, and others like to have a huge selection of options. I would always present designs with alternative looks and layouts. The best way to figure out what works best is to try different things and see what sticks.
