Empowering Communication and Learning through Play
brain bounce is a party style game similar to that of a board game, where users can play creative mini games against each other. The goal of this project was to capture the  social connection and sense of togetherness that board games can give players, but with technology integrated as a modern twist.
Technology has been shown to disconnect us and directly impact mental health. Using technology in a positive light to help connect us and strengthen cognitive development is the best way to build that relationship. Players use their phone as a tool to participate in games that are casted onto a monitor or second screen.
Exploring the effects of technology on developing brains
brain bounce is the result of months of research on the topic of mental health and brain development in relation to technology. I was inspired to dig deeper into the topic while taking Cyberpsychology course.
The project is paired with a thesis paper exploring the effects of technology on developing brains. In the paper, I examine the growing relationship between technology and the human brain, and suggest possible ways to make it positive.
Here are some are some articles that helped brain bounce come to life
These articles helped me to define the problem and my potential user base. As a primarily digital piece, it was important to design the interface to be intuitive for my target demographic of teenagers and young adults. This included a deep dive into game interface patterns and accessibility. User flow was optimized through wire framing and user testing.
